This is the family dog, Charlie (or Charles, as I call him). He's a rescue Aussie Shepherd and about 1 year old in the photo. He's a very affectionate and playful. Charles is the most lovely goober (no contest). Not to mention what wonderful eyebrows he has.
The Bible has many instances of dogs. There's also copious mentions of shepherds. Our dog is a shepherd, and how he would shepherd sheep is how God shepherds His flock. The allusions for dogs are endless.
However, at this moment in time, one of the most pertinent applications of dogs in the Bible is in the death of Jezebel. Elijah prophecies Jezebel's death, along with the death of any who follow Jezebel and Ahab's philosophy, here:
“Adonai has also spoken about Jezebel saying: ‘The dogs will devour Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. 24 Any of Ahab who die in the city, the dogs will eat; or any who die in the country, the birds of the sky will eat.’” (1 Kings 21:23-24)
God is saying through Elijah here that when Jezebel dies, the dogs will defile her body. In 2 Kings 9:30-37, the death of Jezebel is described. Sure enough, her body is eaten up by dogs, so much so that the corpse isn't recognizable.
The body of Jezebel may have died, but the spirit is acting on this world today. One of the most notable outlets is through the legalization and normalization of abortions . The book of Revelation shows that the spirit of Jezebel is acting on end-time churches, specifically Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-23).
The church has been tolerating the spirit of Jezebel for far too long, letting themselves be controlled into accepting what God calls the "deep things of Satan" (Revelation 2:24 TLV). A movement is starting in the remnant church that is spreading to the active believers. Jezebel is being taking down. The first blow was the overturning of Roe vs. Wade.
We must continue the fight against this spirit, holding firm to our Biblical principles. We must be like the dogs, destroying the spirit until it has no form and is completely unrecognizable. This is a fight we can't afford to lose, we must be like a dog with a bone.
The spirit of Jezebel is more prevalent today than many Christians may believe. We have to remember, God praised Thyatira for their good deeds, love, and faith, but they were still susceptible to the spirit of Jezebel. I highly recommend reading this article with the characteristics of this spirit and to break the influence of Jezebel over your life .
